SAP SD (TAX / VAT) Consultant

SAP SD (TAX / VAT) Consultant – English Speaking – Location: 100% Remote Working. Flexible Start Date Between January – February 2023. Permanent Job. Salary up to £65,000 per annum + 10% Bonus + £6000 Car Allowance.

Our client based in the UK, is rapidly expanding their SAP Presales Team and  is looking to hire an SAP SD Functional Consultant who has good knowledge/experience of VAT (indirect taxes). Although this job is based 100% from your home address, for legal payroll / contractual reasons you must live within the UK.

As an SAP SD Functional Consultant you will join the SAP Presales team and assist the Sales Executives with technical insight from an SAP SD point of view.  Prior experience in Presales is not required as the company can provide full training in this aspect of the role.

This position is responsible for developing innovative client solutions drawing on the appropriate skills in the areas of SAP ERP, information systems, financial management, and operations. Utilize knowledge of both business process and SAP ERP to offer clients solutions for the demands of determining, calculating, and recording complex tax transactions. This is a hands-on role that requires solid experience of building the solution for our clients.


  • Manage multiple customer prospects and develop client business cases in a manner that meets customer requirements, anticipates potential problems, and avoids surprises during implementation.
  • Actively participate in complex proposal and demonstration development and help Account Executives close sales opportunities with existing and new clients.
  • Serve as an SAP specialist to fellow Solution Engineers and clients during the sales process.
  • Work with fellow Solution Engineers and Account Executives to develop complex solution demonstrations that reflect an in-depth understanding of the client’s requirements, including technical environments and recommendations
  • Assist in determining tax and business process re-engineering alternatives to assist clients in meeting business objectives.
  • Assist Account Executives in developing client sales strategy, developing and responding to RFPs
  • Develop product demonstrations in SAP with potential client tax, IT and system administration professionals that are specific to the client’s business requirements
  • Execute client sales strategy in a manner that ensures that commitments are met, potential problems anticipated, and surprises avoided
  • Engage appropriate subject matter experts and third-party partners as needed in sales activity, proposal development and project delivery
  • Serve as a customer advocate to relay enhancements to the product teams; document market and competitive information to be used by product and strategy teams.
  • Develops internal sales tools and perform training for internal teams.
  • Participate in other projects or duties.


  • Must have at least 3 years experience in SAP SD
  • Must have good knowledge/experience of VAT (indirect taxes).
  • Must have SAP customizing skills and working knowledge in:
    • SD: Set up new sales organizations
    • SD: Pricing
    • SD: Intercompany billing (including IDOC set-up)
    • SD: Third party sales order processes
    • SD: Service entry sheets
    • SD: Plants Abroad process
    • SD: Settlement and rebate process
    • FI:   Set up new company codes, including relevant master data (GL accounts, BP’s, cost centres etc.)
    • FI:    Define tax codes
    • MM: Set-up new purchase organizations, including plants and storage locations
    • MM: Purchase info records, source lists and purchase requests
    • MM: Create PO’s out of third-party sales orders
    • MM: Subcontracting processes
  • Experience working with clients to understand and build requirements.
  • Experience developing client solutions to address business requirements.

  • You must be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)


  • The salary on offer is subject to your level of skills, knowledge and experience and ranges up to £65,000 gross per annum.
  • 10% annual bonus
  • Annual car allowance of £6000 (this is a cash amount added to your salary each month).


  • The start date is very flexible.  You can start any time between January – February 2023.


  • In this role you will be based 100% from your home and travel to customer sites when required.  Travel nowadays is rare because everyone works remotely and all sales meetings are remote too.  But there may be occasions when you will be required to travel. Estimated travel 0% – 30% spread throughout the year.
  • You must either live in or relocate to the UK. You cannot work remotely from any other country.


  • Sponsorship for a UK work permit is not possible.
  • You must have either UK or Irish Citizenship or be a UK Permanent Resident with either ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) or Settled Status under the EU Settlement Scheme.
