SAP HCM Consultant – English Speaking. Porto, Portugal. Flexible Start Date from February 2022 Onwards. Permanent Job. Salary Range: €35,000 – €55,000 Gross per annum + Bonus + Benefits + Relocation Assistance. END-CLIENT!

Our end-client based in Porto, Portugal, is looking for an English speaking SAP HCM (Human Capital Management) Consultant to join their expanding team.  They have multiple positions and are looking to hire both junior and senior level consultants.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join the company as they are just beginning the migration to S/4HANA, a very large programme that will continue for the next few years.  Now is the perfect time to join the S/4HANA migration project at an early stage.

The company is also offering a very well planned career progression path for you.  You will join the team as an SAP HCM consultant and over the course of the next 2 years the company will provide you with full training and you will begin to learn SAP SuccessFactors (SF); your duties and focus will gradually shift from 90% focus on SAP HCM to 100% focus on SAP SuccessFactors.  The company is also at the very forefront of the latest technologies and has SAP HXM on the horizon.

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization: 

The role of the Senior SAP HCM / SF Tech Consultant is responsible for the planning, installing and for the configuration of software solutions and systems. Working in a team of 6 other HCM consultants you will support employees with specific applications and provides expert advisory. This role will be primarily focused in areas of Shared Service capabilities with possibility to grow in other areas of H2R to expand the expertise and experience.

Key Responsibilities:  

Specialist advice:

  • Actively maintains knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms.
  • Provides detailed and specific advice regarding the application of their specialism(s) to the organization’s planning and operations.
  • Recognizes and identifies the boundaries of their own specialist knowledge.
  • Collaborates with other specialists, where appropriate, to ensure advice given is appropriate to the needs of the organization.

Business analysis:

  • Investigates operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
  • Assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems and identifies options for consideration.
  • Works with stakeholders, to identify potential benefits and available options for consideration and in defining acceptance tests.
  • Contributes to selection of the business analysis methods, tools and techniques for projects; selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.

Requirements definition and management:

  • Contributes to selection of the requirements approach for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
  • Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity.
  • Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritization of requirements.
  • Reviews requirements for errors and omissions.
  • Establishes the requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
  • Investigates, manages, and applies authorized requests for changes to base-lined requirements, in line with change management policy.

Porting/software configuration:

  • Assists in the configuration of software and equipment and the systems testing of platform-specific versions of one or more software products.
  • Documents faults, implements resolutions and retests to agreed standards.

Application support:

  • Identifies and resolves issues with applications, following agreed procedures.
  • Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics.
  • Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks.

If required: People Management / Resource Management:  

  • Is involved in recruiting process and proposes support for hiring decision and pre-selection of candidates
  • Allocates the different work to the respective employees considering experience, complexity, workload and organizational efficiency
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of IT systems, data and analysis and team feedback and makes appropriate changes to meet business needs.
  • Provides team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and GIT objectives

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience with SAP HCM / business process understanding OR SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Must have experience with SAP HCM-PA (Personnel Administration) OR SAP SuccessFactors
  • Experience with SAP HCM-OM (Organisational Management) is nice to have
  • Configuration capability and experience
  • Understanding of data model and relation to the H2R process/solution to provide valuable business advice
  • Deep technical understanding or affinity to learn the technical aspect of HCM
  • Technical integration knowledge
  • Managed critical elements and cross functional and regional projects.


  • Must have strong English language skills, minimum B2 level in reading, writing and speaking.

  • The salary on offer is subject to your level of skills knowledge and experience and ranges between €35,000 – €55.000 gross per annum
  • An annual bonus of 10% for juniors and 15% for seniors is awarded subject to performance
