SAP EDI Consultant

SAP EDI Consultant - English Speaking. Budapest, Hungary (Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote per week). Contract Job. Start 7th April 2026. 3 month Contract (plus extensions up to 3 Years).

Our client based in Budapest, Hungary is looking for an SAP EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Consultant to provide assistance for enhancements to their SAP S/4HANA system during their large international rollouts across Europe.

Main Tasks:
Within the domain of SAP EDI, you will:

• Be responsible for designing, delivering, and optimising EDI integrations across key business processes, ensuring seamless communication between SAP S/4HANA and external trading partners, logistics providers, and internal legacy systems.
• Lead the design and configuration of EDI interfaces within an S/4HANA landscape (e.g., Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Logistics Execution).
• Define and implement IDoc, API, and B2B integration strategies aligned with S/4HANA best practices.
• Map business requirements to EDI message standards (EDIFACT, ANSI X12, TRADACOMS, VDA, etc.).
• Collaborate with integration teams (e.g., SAP Integration Suite, PI/PO, BTP, middleware partners) to ensure robust end-to-end connectivity.
• Configure IDoc types, segments, partner profiles, ports, distribution models, and ALE settings.
• Support the build and testing of EDI message flows, including:
• Functional testing
• Integration testing
• Partner testing
• Cutover validation
• Troubleshoot EDI errors, IDoc failures, and mapping issues.
• Work closely with external trading partners to onboard, test, and stabilise EDI connections.
• Liaise with business process owners to validate requirements and ensure alignment with global template design.
• Provide guidance to offshore teams, developers, and functional consultants
   

Required Skills and Experience:

• Must have strong SAP EDI consulting experience.
• Deep functional and technical understanding of SAP EDI frameworks, integration patterns, and S/4HANA data models, combined with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
• Must have SAP S/4HANA experience
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP EDI, IDoc configuration, and ALE.
• Solid understanding of S/4HANA data structures, simplification items, and integration impacts.
• Proficiency in EDI standards: EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, JSON, VDA, etc.
• Ability to read/debug IDocs, mappings, and interface logs.
• Must be willing to travel to other European locations during the migration phase (expenses will be covered)

Languages:

• Must be fluent in English

Remote Work:

• A maximum of 2 days per week of remote work is permitted.
• You will be expected to be onsite in the Budapest office 3 days per week.

Work Load:

• Full-time 5 days per week Monday - Friday
• 8 hours per day
• Work hours: 08:00 - 18:00 CET
• The contract will be an initial 3 month contract with multiple extensions up to 3 years.
