Since 2002, a full time employee in France has worked 35 hours a week. Prior to this change in the law, the working week was 39 hours. The working day may not exceed 10 hours and the working week is capped at 48 hours.
The average cost of living in France is €1396 per month, including rent, bills and expenses as a single person and for a family for four including rent the cost of living is estimated to be around €3474. However, this varies widely based on location. Paris is more expensive than Marseilles, for example., with the average cost of living for a single person at €1970 and €4981 for a family of four.
In order to apply for a French work visa, you’d need to establish which category of the French Long Stay Work Visa you fall under. This will determine what you need to apply for and how to do so. The requirements may change, but you will usually need to collect documents and fill out a visa application, book an appointment, pay a fee, and attend an interview. EEA/EU citizens do not need a work visa.
France is a great place to work as it has many laws that protect employees, such as the 35-hour week law and other regulations that prevent workers from being sacked.
