Most full time jobs in Germany require 7-8 hours a day, 5 times a week. This includes a 30-60 minute lunch break. Overall, the average working week is between 36-40 hours.

To apply for a work visa in Germany you need to get a job offer first. Then, you need to submit an application according to the instructions (including the necessary documents), pay a fee and go through a visa interview. A decision will usually be made between 1-3 months. You might not need a work visa and could immediately apply for a residence permit if you’re a citizen of the EEA/EU, USA, Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland or the Republic of Korea.
