Most full-time jobs in the Netherlands are between 36-40 hours per week, which is spread over seven to eight hours, five days a week. The standard average is 38 hours a week, with higher wages offered to employees who choose to work longer hours.
Including the cost of rent, the average cost of living for a single person is around €1690, rising to €3952 for a family of four. Rent costs can change drastically depending on where you live in the Netherlands. For example, in Amsterdam a single person will be looking at €2192 per month and a family of four are likely to need €4940.
In order to be granted a work permit, you will need an employment contract with a Netherlands-based employer and be earning at least the minimum wage for Dutch employees over the age of 23. Your employer will also need to prove that your position could not have been filled by a Dutch, EU, or EEA national.
