Working hours for full time employees are 8 hours a day, equivalent to 40 hours per week. Despite some flexibility depending on the type of employment, the law ensures working hours do not exceed 12 hours a day or 60 hours a week.
You will need at least 328,708 HUF per month to cover the costs of rent and utilities, local transport, and going out as a single person on average. A family of four would be looking at around 831,716 HUF. In the capital, Budapest, you can expect this to be 397,640 HUF for a single person and 1,011,083 HUF.
The work permit application for Hungary is conducted during the residency application through the Hungarian immigration office. The procedure requires a valid labour contract between the applicant and a Hungarian employer, therefore it is not possible to apply for a work permit without having a job already lined up.
