SAP Tips: Using parameter IDs in SAP GUI to make working life easier

SAP Tips: Using parameter IDs in SAP GUI

As an SAP user, you can shortcut your working life by defaulting in values in certain screens according to your requirements.

This can be done in the GUI by using parameter IDs.

For example, for the sales document type in VA01, a parameter ID exists to populate this with your chosen default. To see this press F1 in the field in question.

The F1 help for this field kindly gives me the parameter IDs, but don’t rely on this always being the case (it rarely is!).

To find the parameter ID, click on the hammer and spanner icon to show Technical Information.

Here you can see the parameter ID as AAT:

To add the parameter ID into your user name, simply follow the menu path as below.

Now, in the Parameters tab, add AAT in the SET/GET Parameter ID column and the value you want defaulted in the Parameter Value column, and save.

The parameter can now be used to default the value in and is also very useful for ABAP programming too.

I hope you find this useful! Stay tuned for another SAP Tip from Eursap soon!
