SAP Tips: Using the SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM)

SAP Tips: Using the SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM)

SAP has many products in their portfolio, and to the untrained eye, this can seem utterly bewildering. For example, where do you start when trying to find out technical release information about a certain product, or what is the latest release, or when is the end of the maintenance support window?

All this information can be found with the Product Availability Matrix (PAM). The link to this site (SAP Universal ID required) is below:
https://userapps.support.sap.com/sap/support/pam

This is a veritable goldmine of information for all your SAP products. You can mark items as favourites, as well as display the latest products off the SAP production lines.

Other useful links here are the “Maintenance Ending Soon” link. From here, you can specify a valid from and to date range to see which products will be out of mainstream maintenance between those dates. For example, below I have added 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025.

The results show SAP ECC 6.0. However, we know that SAP extended mainstream support for ECC 6.0 to end of 2027, so what is going on here? If we click on the SAP ECC 6.0 link from the results, we are shown this page:

You can see under the “Release Plan” that “End of Mainstream Maintenance” shows 31.12.2025, but there is an option for “Further information”. Clicking on this will open the SAP Support site, with relevant SAP note 1648480, as below.

In that note, you can see that the extension to end of 2027 only applies to the latest three enhancement packs (EHP6, EHP7, EHP8):

Another useful section in the PAM is the “Useful Links” section:

From here you can open many SAP documents providing a wealth of information about SAP solutions.

I hope you find this useful. Stay tuned for another SAP Tip from Eursap next week.
