Eursap's SAP Tips: Checking if an SAP data field is case sensitive. A useful tip - especially when coding.
It’s useful sometimes to know if a field in SAP is case sensitive, especially when coding.
To find this out, follow these steps (works in SAP GUI and SAP Fiori):
- F1 on the field
- Click on the Technical Information button
- Double click the Data Element to view the domain screen
- Double click the Domain from the Data Element screen
- If the "lower case" checkbox is checked then the field is case sensitive
Example screenshots below show for the Customer Reference field in VA01.

I hope you find this useful!
