Eursap's SAP Tips: Further reading on SAP - how to upskill yourself for free.
One of the challenges in today’s world is to upskill yourself in the SAP landscape without breaking the bank. SAP Education has some great courses and certification tracks, but these can be very costly if you are not sponsored by your organisation.
Let's take a look at some alternatives for how you can improve your SAP knowledge for free.
How about starting with your own SAP system and landscape. What information is out there for you to look at all the products you have installed as well as all the SAP notes you have logged, licensing details, upcoming expiry dates, as well as the latest services and support on offer? The best resource for this is SAP For Me (URL: https://me.sap.com/home).
Now let’s look at SAP news and events and how you can keep abreast of the latest in SAP technologies and solutions. There are SAP newsletters (there are a LOT of them, so pick wisely). Each newsletter is aligned with a different area, such as product newsletters, industry newsletters, etc.

While we are on the subject of new developments for SAP, keep an eye on the SAP Hot News site, which details out urgent fixes and patches and updates to the technology:
https://me.sap.com/app/hotnews
From within Hot News, you can flag the items you have confirmed and those as not relevant, so you can keep fully up to date at any time.
Newsletters and Hot News can alert you to new things upcoming, but there is a really nice way to find and explore all the ways to see what is up and coming in SAP applications by exploring the SAP roadmap. This can be found here:
https://pages.community.sap.com/topics/road-map-explorer
You can create your own tailored roadmap here, aligned to your areas of interest. Click on Roadmap Viewer under “Related resources” – this actually takes you back into SAP For Me, where you can view all the roadmaps.
Now let’s take a look at individual technology components and how you can learn more about them.
For SAP Fiori, your first port of call must be the Fiori Apps Reference Library:
https://fioriappslibrary.hana.ondemand.com/sap
Here you can find out anything about any app in SAP Fiori, public or private cloud. You can also build your own upgrade path to tell you how to identify what will change in your new release of SAP S/4HANA. Check out our more in depth Eursap article about Fiori apps and the reference library here.
To dig a little deeper into Fiori, you can see a really nice overview and roadmap here:
https://storyboard.cfapps.eu10.hana.ondemand.com/#/story/sap_fiori_roadmap_2021q4
It’s a few years old now and has not yet been updated for changes in the last couple of years but is still very helpful.
If you are interested in SAP Administration, then the Product Availability Matrix (PAM) is for you. Here you can look at all the SAP versions, release information and importantly, support dates.
SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) is all the rage at the moment and most innovations are appearing here. To find out more about SAP BTP, use the excellent website SAP Discovery Centre:
https://discovery-center.cloud.sap/index.html
If SAP integrations are your thing, SAP has a really good site called the Business Accelerator Hub, which can help.
Here you can see al the standard APIs which are available within your chosen technology.
Another really good source of information is SAP Events and conferences. The main ones on the calendar are SAP Sapphire, which takes place in the US and Europe, and SAP TechEd, which has just returned in 2025 from being virtual only, to being in person as well.

If you are an SAP partner, you can also check out the annual partner summits:

Finally, and this is stretching the point a little, as most of the courses here are payable, there are a few free courses available on the SAP Learning Hub:
That just about covers all the SAP sites for free self-learning. However, there are many independent sites out there which can help. Some are paid sites, but I am adding them here for completeness. Here are a few for you to get your teeth into:
- Michael Management (mostly paid learnings but very good value courses):
https://www.michaelmanagement.com/
- ZAP Yard (an excellent SAP hub for free knowledge sharing)
- Zaran Tech – full set of paid independent training courses for SAP
https://zarantech.teachable.com/
- Udemy (paid, good value SAP courses
Here are some good independent YouTube sites you might wish to explore:
- Abdullah Galal – functional consultant “how to” videos:
https://www.youtube.com/@AbdullahGalal
- Darryl Griffiths Tech Cubicle on SAP (SAP weekly newsletter)
https://www.youtube.com/@TechCubicleOnSAP
And a couple of online and print magazines on SAP:
- ERP Today (covers all ERP systems, not just SAP)
- SAP Insider
A couple of good UK based independent advisors for SAP, both of which I have had excellent experiences with:
- Dragon ERP
- Resulting IT
And finally, this list would not be complete without the best independent SAP site showcasing blogs, tips, tricks, interviews and jobs from the world of SAP:
Eursap
Happy learning!
