Eursap’s Tip of the Week: Finding out “what’s new” in SAP S/4HANA releases
SAP has recently released (on 13th October), SAP S/4HANA 2021, on-premise edition. While this is exciting news, it is a sign that the world of SAP never sits still for long. For some consultants, this is bewildering, as they have to maintain their energy levels in ongoing implementation projects, in addition to keeping their skills and knowledge up to date on new functionality.
So, how do you know what the new functionality in your area is? Actually, there is a really handy way of looking this up, using the SAP “What’s New Viewer”.
As you can see from the screenshot, you can choose your system release – the “Valid as of” field – to select the version of SAP S/4HANA for which you are interested in the changes. In my example above, I have selected version 20201.
You can also filter by Line of Business (e.g. Automotive, Banking, and all other LOBs which are contained within the SAP best practices and model companies), Solution Area (the functional area you are interested in, such as Central procurement or Invoice Management), Category (the extended RICEFW list), Type (whether the item is changed, deleted, new etc) and the Scope Item (listing from the SAP Best Practices Explorer – link here: https://rapid.sap.com/bp/).
From each result, you can click on the “See More” link to take you to more detailed information about the change.
I hope you find this useful! Stay tuned for another SAP Tip from Eursap next week.
