Eursap’s Tip of the Week: Using menu-path keyboard shortcuts instead of the mouse in SAP

Many users, when implementing SAP for the first time, are coming from legacy systems where a mouse is not used. This can sometimes make the transition hard. Additionally, users sometimes prefer to use keystrokes as faster ways to get to their favourite options.

The SAP GUI allows this via underlined menu options.

For example, in the transaction MM03, the “Environment” option has the letter “v” underlined – see below.

To open this option, hold down the Alt key and press v on your keyboard. To open further sub-menu options, keep the Alt depressed and select another of the underlined options, such as the S (you do not need to hold down shift at the same time to get the capital letter).

So, to get to the Stock Overview option (transaction MMBE), simply hold down Alt, then press v then S.

You can simply use the F3 key to return to your starting point from here.

These menu shortcut options are available in the SAP GUI only. They are not available in SAP Fiori, as you can see from the Display Material app screenshot below.

I hope you find this useful! Stay tuned for another SAP Tip from Eursap next week.
