Eursap’s Tip of the Week: Reprocessing of inbound and outbound IDOCs

IDOCs fail in SAP for a number of reasons. We are trained to handle these errors using transaction BD87, as below.

However, sometimes, the IDOCs fail just because the relevant document is locked for editing or because some master data has not been updated correctly. This can be frustrating to have to deal with manually through BD87 continually.

Therefore, it is worth considering using a variant of ABAP reports RBDINPUT and RBDOUTPU, for inbound and outbound IDOCs, in a batch job to reprocess errors. These reports can also be useful to run manually where you have many IDOCs which need reprocessing.
